Financial Aid

The UCR Financial Aid Office adjusts aid awards to meet the needs of students participating in the UCR Washington Center Program. Consult with the Financial Aid office for information specific to your situation.

UCR students who receive financial aid are eligible for scholarship assistance from the President's Washington Scholarship Program. The scholarship usually provides a $750 award to students with financial need. If you are accepted to the program and are eligible for financial aid, consult with the Financial Aid Office about the President's Scholarship.

Most Center participants indicate that, overall, living expenses in Washington seemed to be significantly higher than at their UC campuses.

Students remark that they tend to eat more meals at restaurants and spend more on entertainment when in Washington.

All UCR Washington Center Program students will work with the UCR Financial Aid Office to determine their financial aid and eligibility.

Students participating in the Summer UCDC program who are eligible for financial aid must enroll in at least 6 units in order to qualify.

  • Washington, D.C. internship participants reflect the diversity of the University's student population by providing scholarships for financially needy students, including eligible middle-income students, and financially needy students who are also underrepresented students, re-entry students, and students with disabilities.

Selection Criteria

The President's Washington Scholarship will be available to students who:

  • have applied to and been accepted by a University of California campus program to be an intern in Washington, D.C.;
  • qualify for financial aid as determined by University financial aid offices;
  • have a 3.0 GPA or higher
